 While Collective Pitch Helicopters have good ability to resist wind(outdoor), but they require skillful players to operate. On the other hand, Co-Axial Helicopters have good stability, but usually they can't fight wind very well, even in light breeze condition. The Lama 3 has the innovative Collective Pitch + Co-Axial design, it combines the "Agility" with "Stability", giving the player a completely new experience. Factory claims that Lama 3 is the "Beginner" model for outdoor flying, so we took it for a field test, the result is positive.

How does the Lama 3 works?
For ordinary Co-Axial RC Helicopters, they have two separate motors driving the Top rotor and Bottom rotor mounted on a common axis. The rotors rotate in opposite directions, canceling out each other's torque reaction and therefore not requiring a tail rotor. The heli change rudder by changing the speed of the two motors, basically just controlling the counter torque to keep the heli stay in one direction.
In the Lama 3, same theory is applied. Although it is using one brushless motor driving both Top rotor and Bottom rotor, the heli also change rudder by changing the counter torque. By increasing and decreasing the loading on Bottom rotor(changing bottom rotor's pitch), it will spin a bit faster or a bit slower, that makes the heli spin clockwise or counter clockwise, in another word, when you move rudder stick, the whole swashplate move up or move down, clever design and it worked.

All the fancy engineering stuff aside, the Lama 3 plays like a Co-Axial helicopter, but with more power and the mobility. We charged the battery and took the Lama 3 outdoor, we gave throttle stick to around 30%, the helicopter started to lift off, it is as stable as a ordinary Co-Axial Helicopter, so we managed to hover it around 3 meters off the ground, we notice that it climbed quicker than normal Co-Axial and it still hold in the same spot, thanks to the powerful Brushless Motor and Collective Pitch design, the Lama 3 is great for outdoor use. Finally another product that is great for everyone to play outdoor.

For the performance, it plays like an ordinary Co-Axial Helicopter, but it has much greater wind resistance. We also found that the Lama 3 is quite power consuming, it's understandable becuase of the two huge rotors, a 2200mah battery can provide around 4-5 minutes of quality flight time, I would recommend you to get some extra batteries.
