Presenting the Perfect Image Stabilizing Solution for GoPro HERO 3 / HERO 3+
The New Era of in Camera Gimbal - Storm SD-8 Steadilizer Brushless Camera Gimbal with Tilt Control
While Quadrocopter and Heaxcopter are developing very fast these days, we want to keep up on the Filming Equipments too! Now we have GoPro camera which is small and light and stunning image, what about the stabilizing rigs? That's why we made this Storm Steadilizer SD-8 - a Motor Drive Camera Gimbal with amazing stabilizing function, I'm not talking about a bulky and old school gimbal, this is state-of-the-art Brushless Motor Gimbal! So.... what is Brushless Motor?
It would be quite technical explaining what is Brushless Motor... let's say in this 5 years, everyone is using Brushless Motor on the Hobby Grade RC models because they are very powerful, great efficiency and very responsive, now we put this "magic" motor onto a Camera Gimbal and link up with a Gyroscope. So what does a Gyroscope do? It will pick up X (Pitch) and Y (Roll) axis rotation with pin point accuracy, after calculation the controller will tell the Brushless Motor to react in another direction. It happens at real time, what you will see is the GoPro camera always stay on the object, creating a stabilized and leveled video footage. Just look at the demo video we took, the GoPro HERO 3 was put inside the SD-8 Gimbal and the other GoPro HERO 2 put outside the gimbal, you will be amazed with the performance. You can take control of the Tilt Angle of the gimbal thru your RC Transmitter, or use another RC system (another guy) to control the tilt angle for you so you can focus on flying.
Motorized Gimbal is not new technology which existed in movie industry for a long time, but what the Storm brought to you now is one tenth
of the price with 100% performance of those bulky and expensive equipment. With the Storm SD-8 Steadilizer you can make your own Hollywood grade video with very low budget, best to use the gimbal with our Storm Drone 6 Platform.
How to choose between Storm SD-8 Gimbal, Storm SD-10 Gimbal and Airy Gimbal?
First of all, all of them as the same software so please don't worry about stability, they are the same.
Storm SD-10 gimbal and Airy Gimbal are the same class, they are designed for the DJI Phantom. But of cause, if they fit on the Phantom, they are also good for other drones too like the Storm Drone 6
. Storm SD-10 gimbal is newer than the Airy gimbal, it has better attention on details, like cleaner wiring, added a Reset button for more accurate leveling adjustment and best of all, the Storm SD-10 gimbal support the Gaoki X-Game camera too.
Storm SD-8 gimbal is a bit larger than the SD-10 gimbal and Airy gimbal, it cannot fit underneath the DJI Phantom belly, however, it has same stability as those two, it's a economical choice for bigger drones like the Storm Drone 6. All these gimbal can control the Tilt angle thru RC transmitter.
High Tech Equipment for Movie Grade Video
GoPro HERO 3 with stabilized and leveled video footage
Use Zip Tie or 3M Double Side Foam Tapes to secure the gimbal
You can control the Tilt angle of the Gimbal
With GPS the drone can hold in one spot, then you adjust the tilt angle of the camera thru your RC Transmitter.
Fit perfectly on the Storm Drone 6 / Storm Drone 6 GPS
We used Four
Zip Ties to hold the gimbal onto the drone's belly.
- Gimbal weight : 227g
- With GoPro HERO 3 weight : 301g
- Rotation Angle : Both Axis 45 degrees
- Power Input : JST Plug 11.1V (3S)
This package includes :
1 X Storm SD-8 Steadilizer (Fully tuned by Helipal, 100% ready to use out of box)
1 X Jello Killer with 4 Rubber Damper Balls (Already installed)
Tips for the gimbal
1. Must put GoPro 3 in the gimbal before start up. Gimbal is very weight sensitive, it requires very well weight distribution.
2. Make sure NO
cable tangling the gimbal.
3. Hand held the gimbal as level as possible when starting up, that helps the gimbal to work better.
4. When using on Storm Drone 6 / Storm Drone 6 GPS, please plug the gimbal's Red and Black wire plug into AUX 2 port on the RX701 Receiver to use with Tilt function. If the AUX2 port is already occupied, don't worry, unplug the old one and plug the gimbal instead, the old plug on AUX 2 has no use.
Suitable for : Any drone with flat belly, like the Storm Drone 6 GPS
