GPS on a drone? What about it?
Take her out to a clean and open space (no buildings within 200m range), best with 180 degrees open sky, wait until she found all 7 satellites, now you can fly in GPS mode. What is GPS mode? Simply saying, she can hold in one position ( ~1 meter accuracy) and stay there forever, when you switch off transmitter, it comes back to where it take off, that's the power of GPS guidance. With GPS mode, you can shoot really cool video like professionals, really stable and vibration free, you can take her very high and scouting the neighborhood, taking stunning footage of tree tops and mountains.... this little white Phantom can do it with style, and super easy to operate! The best part is "Go home and Land", when you lost sight or messed up the Head and Tail of this baby, don't worry, simply shut off the transmitter, it will come back to where it lift off, this is called "Enhanced Fail Safe". Another sweet function is called the "Course Lock", when you are hovering the drone in normal 12 o'clock direction, you switch the drone to Course Lock mode, it will remember where you stand, no matter where the drone is pointing at, you can still control the drone just like standing behind it, that means you pull back the elevator stick, it will still come back to you. this is a good function for people who always mix up headings.
Experiencing on the Phantom
The Phantom is really stable and easy to fly, thanks to the GPS and the good quality Gyro, with good GPS signal it can really stay at one spot. However, we have some experience to share with you.
We
say DO NOT trust the GPS fully, in our experience, the GPS signal is easily affect by environmental factor, like bad weather or tall buildings, we recommend you only fly the Phantom in country side (no tall buildings or big trees in 200m range) with very big sky clearance, the Phantom can get good GPS signal and minimize the chance crashing. DO NOT fly the drone too high, because the higher the place, the bigger the wind, we said that the Phantom is stable, but hey... it can't fight the nature, it CANNOT fight big wind. Also, be a responsible flyer, always fly this drone within eye sight, do not always fly it out of sight and rely on the Go Home and Land function, this could cause danger to others. In conclusion, just keep mind that playing the Phantom within limits, you will have a great experience flying it.

Very smooth operation, very easy to fly

It's good for Aerial Filming, because...
It comes with a FREE GoPro camera mount, it's very solid build and beautiful, specially made for GoPro Hero 2, however, since GoPro Hero 3 is almost same size, you can use some pad to fill the gaps and use the GoPro Hero 3.
Why use GoPro camera?
GoPro camera is much more powerful than other cameras in the shop. It is small and light, it has super wide angle and very fast exposure adjustment, that means you can have Bright Blue Sky and Dark Landscape at the same time, and the most important function, it can shoot video at 60~120fps, this eliminate Water Wave Effect caused by the micro rotors vibration.
The Phantom is NOT a Toy!!
DJI makes professional aerial filming products, they all look black and heavy, you know they are expensive... then one day they want to make a hobby grade All-in-One product for public, so they pack all those high tech stuff into this cute body. Make no mistake, although it looks cute, but it's a piece of high tech equipment (the price too!!), so ALWAYS watch out for the Light Status, it tells you if the Phantom is ready or not.

DO NOT fly around buildings!!
The Phantom needs 7 satellites to work, and those satellites are widely spread around the sky, some are close the horizon, buildings may block the GPS signal, so imagine when you are flying it far away and hands off the controller and allowing GPS to hold position, suddenly it lost GPS signal, it will fly away, and since it's too far for your eyes to see and cannot control it back, you can kiss your money goodbye. You have been warned.
When you do things right, it's safe and fun to fly
We always pay attention to the Light Status, so we have a happy time.
Knowing the Light Status is important, it tells you is the Phantom healthy or not.

Working in IOC mode (Course Lock), no matter what's the direction the drone is pointing at, you control it just like standing behind the drone, you pull back elevator stick, it will come back to home point.

Recording home point. When it found 6 or more satellites for more than 8 seconds AND you moved throttle stick for the first time, it will record this point as home point, it will fly back to this point if you switch off transmitter. Make sure this home point location is cleared all the time.

Phantom lost Transmitter signal, this will happen when you switch off transmitter. With good GPS signal, it will go up to 20 meters high and fly back to the home point, hover for 15 seconds and slowly descend to the ground.

Compass is getting wrong data, do the Self Rotation to re-calibrate, this usually works. For worst case, the compass is magnetized by magnets (maybe the brushless motor, maybe a magnet head screw driver), to make it work again, try placing it in clean place with no magnet device for 1-2 days, and do the Self Rotation to calibrate again)

2.4GHz New Generation Radio System
2.4GHz is the standard of new generation radio system. It offers longer transmission distance, less interference, more stable radio transmission and less legal issue. For traditional radio frequency, helicopters in same frequency cannot fly together because of interference. With 2.4GHz radio system, many helicopters can fly at the same time without interference.
