A Battery Balancer can "Level" each cell's voltage difference. To understand how it works, you need to know what is Li-Po Battery Pack. Li-Po Battery is made from Li-Polymer Cells, they were all manufactured to have standard 3.7V on each cell, when they are linked together, they form a Battery Pack, like 7.4V, 11.1V, 14.8V or 22.2V, as you can see, they are all multiple of 3.7V.

Why you need a Battery Balancer?
When you buy a new battery pack, it has stand 3.7V on each cell, after fully charged, each cell usually has 4.2V-4.3V, after a flight, they usally becomes around 3.5V-3.6V. However, every cell has a little bit difference on discharge rate and capacity, after a period of time, you get different readings on each cell, this is normal. To restore the battery to former glory, we use a Battery Balancer to "Level" each cells to the same voltage, then we use a Balance Charger to fully charge it, and the battery lives again!

Li-Po Battery is the heart of a helicopter. If the voltage between each cell is not balanced, it will affect the performance. If any cell of the battery become failure, the helicopter can be out of control. It can be very dangerous.

It is good to keep on monitoring the battery during the flight in order to keep the performance and safety of the helicopter.
